Quezon City, June 20, 2024 — The three-day MATATAG Curriculum Training for Private Schools, held at Holy Family School of Quezon City, Inc., concluded today with a strong commitment from participants to implement the new curriculum with both competence and compassion. The event, hosted by the APSA QC Administrators, saw over 380 private school administrators and teachers in attendance, including representatives from St. Pedro Poveda College, School of St. Anthony, Perpetual Help Learning Academy, and institutions from Marikina City, Bulacan, and Cavite.

The training covered crucial topics such as integrating 21st-century skills in classroom-based assessments, promoting inclusion for special needs education learners, fostering collaborative expertise, and unpacking competencies. These plenary sessions were followed by in-depth discussions in 16 breakout groups, spanning Kindergarten to Grade 7.

With the guidance of over 80 seasoned Department of Education educators, tasked by the Schools Division Office, participants were well-prepared for the MATATAG curriculum's upcoming implementation across various grade levels. On Day 2, the focus was on discussing the General Shaping Paper and unpacking Quarters 1 and 2.

The final day featured an inspiring message from the Assistant Division Superintendent, Dr. Juan Obierna, who challenged participants to not only demonstrate competence but also show compassion and great love for their students. "Implementing the MATATAG Curriculum is not just about academic excellence. It’s about nurturing our students with compassion and a genuine love for their growth and well-being," Dr. Obierna emphasized.

On behalf of the participants, Dr. Teresita Arcos-Surot, the School Directress and President-elect of the Association of Private School Administrators, expressed a strong commitment to embracing the Department of Education's mandate with utmost dedication. "We are enthusiastic and ready to implement the MATATAG Curriculum, driven by our compassion and love for our students. This training has equipped us with the knowledge and skills needed to make a positive impact in our schools," Dr. Arcos-Surot stated.

The successful conclusion of this training marks a significant step forward in enhancing the quality of education and fostering a supportive, inclusive environment for all students..? ????
